Some of the most beloved of holiday desserts are often rather labor-intensive. Though I love a figgy pudding  or bûche de noël, those can both take tons of time to create and are pretty easy to mess up. Since the holidays are a busy, stressful time, any dessert that can be delicious and crowd-pleasing but not take all that time and effort to make is very appealing to me.

Thankfully, finding a treat that requires low effort, but yet delivers a high reward is not far from being found because Sarah Fennel of Broma Bakery’s Triple Layer Peppermint Brownies are just what we were looking for. The best part? Making them couldn’t be easier. In fact, they start out with a baking mix!

To make these tasty brownies, start by following the directions on the brownie mix box you have handy. Once that’s baked and is out of the oven, it’s time to get creative.

Grab a medium-sized mixing bowl and add a stick of butter, powdered sugar, peppermint extract, and a tablespoon of milk. Blend with a stand mixer, immersion blender, or hand mixer before spreading on top of your now-cooled brownies.

These brownies are not called triple layer for no reason though, and that delicious and fluffy topping will be topped with another layer of chocolate. After mixing one and a half cups of melted chocolate chips with a tablespoon of coconut oil, spread it on top of your already constructed layers, followed by a sprinkle of crushed candy canes or peppermint candies. Once it sets, you’re ready to enjoy!

These brownies are not only easy to make and fun for a holiday gathering, but they also promise to be fragrant and delicious. And if you ask me, it doesn’t get any better than that!
