These are two types of people: those who enjoy doing the dishes and those who abhor and avoid the task altogether. In my opinion, anyone who falls in-between the two extremes either has hacks that make the job easier, faster, and cleaner … or they’re in need of a few before they begin regularly resorting to takeout. Personally, I’m in the latter category, but inching towards the former with every new gadget I discover that makes washing dishes less, well, awful. If you’re anything like me, you’re in the right place. It’s my pleasure to introduce to you the one little tool that has changed the way I clean my kitchen (and cook!): this sink corner disposable mesh bag strainer basket from Amazon.

Essentially, this little gadget suctions to the top of the corner of your sink. As needed, you simply stretch one of the (200!) mesh bags it comes with around the tri-holder’s pegs and dispose of any solids right into the bag as you clean. Once you’re done, unhook the bag, twist and knot the top, and toss the whole thing in the garbage. No need to scrape into the trash can before washing, which can be messy business in itself — everything you need is right there at the sink. That means no more feeling around for the tab of your sink drain’s strainer or having to dump and replace it multiple times — these bags stretch to fit it all in one go. Lastly, and most importantly for me, there’s no need to get upsettingly intimate with the mess you’re cleaning up.

Because the mesh bags are disposable, I even use the corner strainer while I’m cooking since doesn’t have to be a dedicated cleaning tool. It makes it easy to separate pasta from its pasta water, drain steamed veggies, and even rinse meat, fish, and produce before cooking it. This is a tool I can’t recommend enough to my home cook friends (and one they should look out for in their stockings this year) and even those who opt out of cooking for fear of the cleaning that’s necessary afterward. It’s a multitasker you can get creative with — a kitchen gadget for the people. Especially the people who crave cleanliness and organization …even while they clean and organize.
