Trader Joe’s Just Leaked Info on 4 Exciting New Additions to the Cheese Section
If we had to pick a favorite section of Trader Joe’s, the cheese wall would rank pretty high. Not only is it filled to the brim with award-winning cheeses, but it’s also stacked with tons of affordable options, making it easy to curate an expertly crafted grazing board without breaking the bank.
So when the latest episode of the Inside Trader Joe’s Podcast dropped, naturally we were over the moon to find out it was all about cheese! The pod is usually where hosts Tara Miller and Matt Sloan drop hints on new product launches — so what could they be?
Interestingly enough, all four of the anticipated launches are plant-based cheeses. According to Kim Conroy, Trader Joe’s Category Manager for Cheese (uh, dream job alert), “This is a huge growth area of the cheese business right now.” Trader Joe’s is aiming to produce coconut-oil based alternatives to dairy-based cheese that have a high melt-factor.
Here’s what’s coming to a TJ’s cheese wall near you.
1. Vegan Parmesan Style Shred
As soon as this summer, Trader Joe’s shoppers will be able to get their hands on coconut-oil based Vegan Parmesan Style Shreds. “In eating these, you wouldn’t even know the difference,” says Conroy.
2. Vegan Feta Style Cheese
Conroy says the same of the Vegan Feta-Style Cheese, which is coming in hot off the heels of the TikTok tomato feta pasta craze. You can swap this in for dairy-based feta, “without changing the recipe at all,” she explains.
3. Vegan Cream Cheese
“We have an updated cream cheese coming in that is a new recipe, very similar to our traditional cream cheese,” says Conroy. (Sorry to be tight lipped. Those are all the details we’ve got, people!)
4. American-Style Coconut-Based Slice
And then finally, “The fourth is an American-Style Coconut-Based Slice, that melts in a grilled cheese sandwich the way a typical slice of our Organic American would melt,” says Conroy.
Which of these vegan cheeses will you try first?
