It’s no secret that the Trader Joe’s artisanal cheese selection is top-notch. Not only is there a great selection of cheeses — with options like Comté, Havarti with dill, and mini Basque — but they’re also sold at a very affordable price. So of course, when we see a new seasonal selection at our local Trader Joe’s, we can’t help but give it a try. Especially if it’s getting all kinds of hype online, such as this seasoned taco Gouda cheese.

Sold at $12.49 a pound (averaging around $6 per wedge at the store), this taco Gouda cheese is the perfect companion when you’re stuck on what to make for dinner, or just need a tasty snack. This cheese shreds nicely and works well for all of your favorite Mexican-inspired dishes, like chipotle-lime chicken quesadillas, cheesy gordita crunch-inspired beef tacos, turkey enchiladas with homemade sauce, sheet pan chicken nachos, and California taco salad. Or simply slice it up and serve on your favorite Trader Joe’s crackers!

The cheese is made from rBST-free cow’s milk and inspired by your favorite taco seasoning, with a mix of jalapeño powder, dried bell pepper, onion, garlic, cumin seeds, and oregano. The sweetness of this Dutch Gouda pairs nicely with the spicy and savory seasonings, and makes for a delicious twist on your favorite weeknight meals.

According to Trader Joe’s, the taco Gouda cheese is their June Spotlight Cheese, meaning it’s only available for a limited time, so you’ll want to grab a couple of wedges soon before they’re gone. If you want to make your taco Gouda cheese last for even longer, you can shred it and freeze it for later.
