Recipe: Trader Joe’s Slow Cooker Spicy Mediterranean Chicken
An easy slow cooker chicken recipe using just a handful of Trader Joe's ingredients.

The moment I discovered Trader Joe’s zhoug sauce, my life changed for the better. Have you tried it? It’s not for the faint of heart, but if you can handle the heat, I’m pretty sure you’ll fall in love just as quickly as I did. The Yemeni sauce is a blend of cilantro, jalapeño, red chili flakes, garlic, cardamom, and cumin. It’s spicy and savory, with a nice warming note from the ground spices. Here, it’s paired with chicken, roasted peppers, and olives for an easy, colorful slow cooker meal.
An Extra-Flavorful Chicken Dinner, Thanks to One Sauce
The zhoug sauce at Trader Joe’s is seriously so flavorful, I’ve been using it everywhere in my kitchen. I stir it into scrambled eggs, mix it with Greek yogurt for a quick dip, and even toss it with pasta for a spicy sauce. Here, it jazzes up chicken breasts, but also ensures they’ll cook up to be extra moist, since the oil-based sauce slowly soaks into the meat as it cooks. While the roasted peppers and olives help tame the heat here, I also like serving it over rice or orzo pasta to balance it even more.
