Trader Joe’s Just Leaked Info on 11 New Seasonal Items Hitting Shelves This Fall
Hot take: Fall at Trader Joe’s is a million times better than fall at Starbucks. Why, you ask? Well, beyond pumpkin-flavored coffee, TJ’s has an unbelievable amount of seasonal-inspired items to choose from — ranging from sweet to savory. Not to mention, the grocery chain adds a slew of festive new items every single year.
Speaking of new items … within the latest episode of the Inside Trader Joe’s Podcast, hosts Tara Miller and Matt Sloan teased almost a dozen seasonal newbies that we absolutely cannot wait to try. Let’s take a look.
1. Murasaki Sweet Potato Chips
This yummy sounding snack might already be in stores near you — but for a limited time only. Made from Murasaki sweet potatoes, which are purple on the outside and white on the inside, they kind of have “a roasted chestnut … nutty sweetness,” says Matt.
2. Pumpkin Spice Pretzel Slims
According to Matt, this treat is made of pretzels “swimming in really nice white chocolate with crushed pumpkin spiced pumpkin seeds.” Did someone say pumpkin?!
3. Pumpkin Spice Batons
Similar to the pre-existing vanilla batons, cocoa batons, coffee batons, and lemon batons, these wafer cookies are stuffed with pumpkin spice filling and would be great paired with coffee or ice cream. You don’t have to wait too long either! These should be on shelves “by the time this podcast lands,” says Tara.
4. Pumpkin Brioche
The TJ’s bakery section takes the cake. (This is especially true if you’ve ever tried their pancake bread!) And it’s about to get even better thanks to this new hybrid pumpkin brioche that sounds like the latest winner to come out of the bakery aisle. “I think French toast will never be the same,” says Matt. Get it while the getting is good though; apparently this is a super limited release.
5. Spicy Pumpkin Curry Simmer Sauce
In addition to the sweet stuff, TJ’s also has a few savory fall items that we’re excited to try. Inspired by a Thai curry this pumpkin curry simmer sauce is thick, creamy, and spicy! If you’re unsure of how to use it, keep an eye out for a Fearless Flyer recipe for “Vegetarian Spicy Pumpkin Curry Pot Pie.”
6. Mini Spicy Pumpkin Samosas
These mini spicy pumpkin samosas will be making their debut in the frozen section. “They’re really good with a number of different sauces,” says Tara.
7. Pumpkin Empanada
Unsure of how a pumpkin empanada would taste? “Think of a small Mexican-inspired hand pie with delicious … pumpkin pie spice filling,” says Matt, who advocates for eating these for breakfast.
8. Everything But The Leftovers Seasoning Blend
This Thanksgiving-inspired seasoning blend is one that we’re very excited about. “To me, it tastes like the archetypal flavor of stuffing,” says Matt. He offers some ideas to get you started: “If you wanted to make stuffing-flavored popcorn, mashed potatoes, or if you wanted your stuffing to taste that much more like stuffing.”
9. Dry Roasted Maple Almonds
These sweet and crunchy nuts (which are fairly self-explanatory) sound like the perfect fall snack. We also bet they’re really reasonably priced, because TJ’s tends to have the absolute best bargains on nuts.
10. Rwandan Simbi Coffee Beans
Brew yourself a cup of coffee from beans sourced from a small Rwandan farm. The resulting cuppa will be light to medium roast, with bright “almost fruit-like” flavors.
11. Turkey Pumpkin Mole Burrito
Prepare to be blown away by this glorious-sounding microwavable frozen burrito. “Very basically, you have turkey, you have a green pumpkin seed mole sauce, cilantro rice, some black beans, little cheese, and roasted sweet potatoes, all wrapped up in a tortilla burrito style,” says Matt. Where do we sign up??
