When the temperatures drop and the leaves start to turn, there’s no meal more comforting than a cozy bowl of soup. Depending on what you kind of soup you’re making (broccoli cheddar, white bean chili, or clam chowder perhaps) you may vary the toppings. But what about the bowl?

To take your homemade soup-making endeavors to the next level this year, you may want to head to Trader Joe’s. The popular chain just introduced a new product — sourdough boules — which are ideal for making homemade bread bowls.

If you scour the bakery section, you’ll find these sourdough boules in a pack of two selling for $2.99. They’re filled with yeasty and slightly nutty flavors, and have a light and airy texture. You can cut the tops off, scoop out some of the filling (make sure to save the discards for croutons!), and use them as bread bowls for soup. They’re seven ounces and about five inches in diameter by three inches tall so that you can pour in all your go-to stews.

The hype from Trader Joe’s fans may even reach the level excitement for each new tote drop. One person commented on the post, “Boules would be a perfect idea for French onion soup bowls! Drape some of the crispy cheese on top.” Another user called out, “Can’t wait to try the boules!”

To prepare these bread bowl meals with little to no effort, you can also pick up a few Trader Joe’s ready-to-heat soups to pour into them. They have a few flavors to choose from, including tomato and roasted red pepper, autumnal harvest made with butternut squash, and lobster bisque

Or, for a weekend project, you can cook one of our homemade soups. Perhaps a zesty red lentil, creamy white bean kale, or spicy wonton? Either way, with cozy season in full swing, this new Trader Joe’s drop is equipping us with the all-star ingredient we need to upgrade the most comforting fall meal.
