Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, the time for decorating your holiday table is nigh — and Trader Joe’s has just the thing to make your centerpiece a total hit. I’m talking about Trader Joe’s Ivy Wreath with String Lights — a potted English Ivy Wreath that comes with a strand of battery-powered string lights. Ingenious? Yes! Affordable? Yes!

Why Trader Joe’s Ivy Wreath with String Lights Is the Best Holiday Centerpiece

There are a few things that make this Trader Joe’s find a total win.

It’s simple to set up. Just remove the fairy lights from their packaging and loop them around the wreath, hiding the wire in the ivy as you go. The battery pack tucks away neatly in the pot, making this a self-contained unit perfect for the center of your table.

It can be used year-round. English Ivy is known as a super climber in the plant world and it will continue to grow long after the holiday season has ended. Just keep the soil moist, and your ivy should stay healthy for years.

For this potted wreath, you can trim the ivy back to keep it around the wreath or you can allow the ivy to climb beyond the wreath where it will grow on anything it can reach. Or you could replant it outside. On one @traderjoesobsessed Instagram post, one person commented, “I planted one of these a couple years ago and it runs up a trellis on the side of my house! People done (sic.) believe it started from a Trader Joe’s wreath!”

It comes with its own pot. The wreath comes in a disposable plastic pot that’s wrapped in festive red paper. It’s absolutely gorgeous as is, especially at night when the fairy lights are twinkling. You can also upgrade the look by transplanting the wreath to a different pot and adding ribbons or other decorative touches to make it more unique.

Its fairy lights can be reused. If you decide your table doesn’t need fairy lights all year round, you can reuse the strand of fairy lights for something else. Bring a little shimmer to your desktop or your child’s nightstand — or just put them away to use again next winter.

It costs $13. These ivy wreaths are already an incredibly popular item at TJ’s, where they’ve been sold for the past few years, and the price is definitely a factor. Make sure to pick one up soon before they disappear!
