This Is the Canned Wine That Everyone Is Going to Be Drinking This Summer
Summer is around the corner and Trader Joe’s is launching a line of sparkling wines that will likely be the “it” drink of the season. Called Simpler Wines, the Italian sparkling wines (vino frizzante in Italian) come packaged in pink and blue cans. And like most things that come from Trader Joe’s, this wine is cheap. Like, really, really cheap. Four cans will cost you just $3.99. It’s basically the new Two-Buck Chuck.
“With no fancy opener or glassware needed, Simpler Wines dare to venture where their bottled brethren can only dream,” says Trader Joe’s in a product release. “Picnic at the beach or concert in the park? No problem. Backyard BBQ or pool party? Simpler Wines for the win.”
Simpler Wines is debuting two flavors for the summer: a white and a rosé . I think it’s safe to say — given the trends of the last couple years — that the rosé will likely be the standout hit.
What will they taste like? The white sparkling wine features “notes of juicy honeydew and fresh cut herbs provide sweet sippability.” The grocer says the white wine pairs well with bread and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The rosé sparkling wine, on the other hand, boasts “elegant, mineral notes and red fruit flavors” and pairs well with the likes of pasta, seafood, and dessert.
Unfortunately, the product won’t be available at every Trader Joe’s location — it will roll out in select stores throughout the country. Check in with your local Trader Joe’s to see if they’re going to carry the product.
