Seltzer water is great, but when I'm super dehydrated or need something that really quenches my thirst, I turn to coconut water. It's packed with potassium, which means it helps replenish your electrolytes, thereby hydrating your body more than water alone. Coconut water is also a solid post-workout drink option, because there's no added sugar like you might find in most neon-colored sports drinks.
That's why I was so excited to see that Trader Joe's is now selling sparkling coconut water, and it comes in the most delicious-sounding flavor: yuzu, a tart citrus fruit found mostly in Asia, similar to a lemon. Sounds like the perfect pairing for a bubbly beverage. Plus, yuzu is packed with vitamin C.

If you think regular #coconutwater is refreshing, you’ve got to try #traderjoes Sparkling Coconut Water with Yuzu… It’s fresh Coconut Water from Vietnam, mixed with puréed #Yuzu (an East Asian citrus fruit that’s sweeter than lemon & livelier than orange), finished with carbonation for a #fizzy, fragrant, flavorful drink that’s wonderful chilled, straight out of the 8.45 fl. oz. can—or as part of your fancy #cocktail. — | 99% juice | 10g sugar (none added)| Pasteurized | #unyuzuallygood
"Sparkling Coconut Water with Yuzu is slightly tropical, subtly sweet, and best enjoyed chilled over ice, or in a tropical cocktail," explains Trader Joe's on their website.
I guess once you've become hydrated it's time to get dehydrated again? I mean, it probably tastes great with rum or vodka. And with that extra spike of yuzu, it might even pair well with sake. I know all of these cocktails sound tropical, but as the weather gets colder, you may find yourself needing a reminder of the summer months. I can't think of a better way than taping a few paper palm trees to the walls, inviting all your friends over, and mixing up of a batch of fizzy coconut water cocktails.
You can currently buy a four-pack of the sparkling coconut water for $3.99 at Trader Joe's. Go forth and be refreshed!
