Snacking is an art form, and Trader Joe’s has a PhD in snackology. They’ve got the iconic peanut butter-filled pretzels, sweet potato tortilla chips, peanut butter cups, and, my personal favorite, the gummy penguins. The grocery store’s latest treat is no less creative or crave-worthy: It’s popcorn that pops right off the cob, and it’s the coolest-looking thing you’ll see all day.

It’s actually quite simple to make: All you do is place the corn on the cob (covered in kernels of dried corn — not fresh, of course) in the paper bag provided. Microwave like you would a regular bag of popcorn, and when you take it out, your cob should be sprouting tasty popcorn, which you can then eat directly off the cob if you’re feeling silly, or do the grown-up thing, and add it to a bowl with a pinch of salt.

Just a heads up: One blogger tested out the product, and discovered that only half the kernels on the cob popped into edible popcorn, and that it needed serious seasoning before he could eat it. On the other hand, Instagram user @whollybeezus had no complaints and said it actually works.

So why would you opt for popcorn that pops on the cob instead of a regular ol’ bag of popcorn kernels? For the novelty! For the experience! Sure, it probably doesn’t taste any different than its traditional counterpart, but it’s way, way cooler.

Let’s say you’re hosting movie night with friends. Why not make it a Trader Joe’s theme? Every guest can bring over their favorite TJ’s snack and you’ll have this extra-special popcorn on hand as a fancy party trick, which will totally make your movie night the best movie night any of your friends have ever been to (not that it’s a competition). And even if you’re not planning on hosting any parties, I wouldn’t blame you if you stocked up on enough Trader Joe’s gummy penguins to make it seem like you’re having a huge group of friends over. Don’t worry — I won’t tell anyone if you eat them all yourself.
