I Tried the New Trader Joe’s Dessert Everyone’s Talking About
As a Trader Joe’s superfan, you know I’m always there for the new product drops. It’s like Christmas every time I step into a Trader Joe’s and get to experience a plethora of different goodies for the first time.
I’ve barely gotten over the new September items, let alone all the classic TJ fall items I’ve constantly been filling my cart with. That being said, we need to talk about Trader Joe’s newest chocolate curiosity that is sure to pique your sweet-lovin’ interest.
What Are Trader Joe’s Brigadeiros?
This new Trader Joe’s release is everything the chocolate-lover in you is absolutely craving. These ball-shaped, truffle-adjacent chocolate sweets are made of sweetened condensed milk, sugar, cream, cocoa, wheat flour, and cultured butter. These treats are almost always found on dessert tables in Brazil and are made specially in Portugal for Trader Joe’s.
These cake-like balls are covered in chocolate sprinkles and are perfect in or out of the freezer. Some have mentioned the perfection in texture when they’re eaten straight out of the freezer — they stay soft while still maintaining the most desirable flavor. They can also be taken out of the freezer and thawed to room temperature, or warmed up and served with ice cream for a whole new experience.
Keep in mind that while these are delicious, some fans have been complaining that they’re not completely authentic. In a Reddit comment, one user pointed out that these are “more like a ganache truffle made with semi-sweet chocolate,” while the real dessert tastes more like milk chocolate with a noticeably chewier texture. While I loved them so much I had to go back for a couple more boxes, you might not be a huge fan of these if you’re used to the more authentic version.

When Can I Get Them?
According to Trader Joe’s, you can grab a 4.94-ounce box of these gems right now for $3.79, but only for a limited time. If you know Trader Joe’s, you know they’re constantly shifting their stock and aren’t afraid to try something new at any time of year. We don’t know how long these perfect little chocolate desserts will be in TJ freezers, so stock up as soon as you can. Maybe buy a few boxes at a time… we have a feeling they won’t last long.
