Trader Joe’s Just Brought Back a Famous $4 Frozen Dessert — But It Won’t Be Around For Long
There’s always some kind of new tasty dessert in the Trader Joe’s freezer section. Whether it’s a new flavor of mini Hold The Cones, ice-cream sandwiches or molten chocolate lava cakes you can pop in the microwave, we’re here for them all. But we have a feeling the most recent Trader Joe’s dessert find is going to be one you’re going to want to stock up on given all the hype shoppers are giving it right now: a Banana Pudding Flavored Ice Cream.
Think of it as a version of Magnolia Bakery’s famous banana pudding, but in ice-cream form. This ice cream comes in a pint-size container perfect for eating directly from the carton with a spoon. The base is an ice-cream mix with banana puree and a rich salted caramel swirl. It even features bite-size bits of vanilla-flavored wafer cookies for a little added crunch, just like the banana pudding you know and love. This ice cream is sold at Trader Joe’s now for $3.79 a pint.
Trader Joe’s says this ice cream is also great for turning it into a deconstructed — then reconstructed — banana split. Top this ice cream on a cut banana with whipped cream, chopped nuts, and even their dark-chocolate covered cherries. We also have a feeling these pitted amarena cherries they’re selling right now would also taste absolutely delicious.
Shoppers are extremely excited for this ice cream and even converting some banana-flavored haters into lovers. “I was 100% prepared not to like this. Instead I had to stop myself from devouring the whole pint in one sitting,” writes one shopper on TJ’s recent Instagram post about the dessert. Some are saying that they enjoy adding even more crunch to their ice cream by sprinkling in more crushed vanilla-flavored wafer cookies on top, with more sliced bananas and whipped cream, of course.
So if you’re a fan of all things banana flavored and you’re looking for a sweet treat that will satisfy your craving for Magnolia Bakery’s famous banana pudding, then this is absolutely the dessert for you.
