My Most Beloved $4 Jarred Pasta Sauce Tastes Even Better Than Homemade (It’s Not Marinara!)
Fall is HERE, as is the second of all the “-ber” months (and the best one, if you ask me). This not only means colder weather for many of us, but dusting off the holiday decor and breaking out those warm, comforting meals. As a Trader Joe’s fan and frequent shopper, it’s one of my absolute favorite times of the year to stop by the beloved grocery chain.
It’s impossible to walk down the aisles of Trader Joe’s and not feel excited about the upcoming festivities. The shelves are filled with autumn-inspired items, including pumpkin-shaped pastas and leaf-shaped (and colored!) tortilla chips. Who doesn’t love a theme?!
For many, now is the time to stock up for the year ahead (some of the most coveted seasonal items will quickly turn into proverbial pumpkins). The one item I most look forward to is Trader Joe’s Autumnal Harvest Creamy Pasta Sauce. It’s one of those unique finds that made me fall in love with TJ’s in the first place.
What’s So Great About Trader Joe’s Autumnal Harvest Creamy Pasta Sauce?
Trader Joe’s Autumnal Harvest Creamy Pasta Sauce is the jarred pasta sauce that you need to know about this fall. It’s got a bright tomato base with a sweetness from pumpkin and butternut squash puree — but that’s not all. The 25-ounce jar contains both heavy cream and butter for extra creaminess, and plenty of flavor thanks to the list of spices that includes garlic, rosemary, and sage.
At $3.99, you’ll want to grab at least two of this seasonal find. I stock up on at least four jars to hold me over until the next fall.
What’s the Best Way to Use Trader Joe’s Autumnal Harvest Creamy Pasta Sauce?
My favorite way to use it is to toss it with pasta (I like TJ’s pappardelle, but truly anything you have at home will do the trick), then top with torn pieces of burrata and sprinkle some red pepper flakes for a little bit of heat. You can double up on the fall flavors and toss it with butternut squash ravioli, or take a cue from the grocer’s own website and make an autumnal veggie lasagna or homemade chicken Parmesan.
While it is technically labeled “pasta sauce,” its versatility is another one of its strengths. Toss it with zucchini noodles or Tj’s cauliflower gnocchi or top roasted broccoli for a fall themed side. Make autumn themed cheesy-chicken enchiladas or swap it for marinara on your next pizza night, and mozzarella and prosciutto for a sweet and salty combo.
