As I was perusing (walking with urgency) through my local Trader Joe’s the other day, I was stopped dead in my tracks when I spotted this new find on the shelves: A&H Kosher Hot Dogs. Last summer, I wrote about how this game-changing brand is the only one worth its weight in salted meat — and I stand by that take.

Ever since my first bite, they’ve become a staple in my fridge, a grocery essential if you will. But until recently they’ve been trickier to source. I used to commute 30 minutes by train to find them at a kosher grocery store. But now? Now I can simply walk 5 minutes to stock up — and, even better, they’re CHEAPER. By A LOT.

What’s So Great About A&H Kosher Beef Hot Dogs?

I’ve already waxed poetic about these dogs, but I’m more than happy to say it again: A&H hot dogs are plump, snappy, and beautifully smoky, which adds an extra layer of flavor. Growing up keeping kosher, my options were very limited. (I couldn’t, say, sample my way through 10 different brands.)

After tasting A&H, it didn’t matter how few choices I had. I’d found the one. And while I was totally at peace with trekking way uptown and paying more than double ($14.49) the Trader Joe’s price, I’m more than thrilled to save both the time and money.

What’s the Best Way to Use A&H Kosher Beef Hot Dogs?

Grilling them is, of course, one of the best ways to enjoy them. But if you live in a place with seasons, there are a bunch of other ways to enjoy them year-round. I have four packs in my fridge right now, including a jalapeño flavor, for this very reason.

One of my new favorites? Cooking them with rice. You can add them to a casserole, pasta, or soup.

They’re also pretty great sautéed and added to rice bowls, sliced into rounds for ramen or fried rice, or pan-fried with gnocchi and Rao’s Homemade Arrabbiata sauce

Buy: A&H Kosher Beef Hot Dogs, $5.99 for 14 ounces at Trader Joe’s
