If you aren’t listening to Trader Joe’s podcast, Inside Trader Joe’s, it’s time to subscribe. (Don’t worry, it’s free!) You’ll learn about all sorts of fun things — like why the stores have a nautical theme, why TJ’s will never sell groceries online, and most recently, a few new and exciting products that’ll hit shelves in 2019.

We listened carefully and distilled that new product info down to you in this story. While the post-holiday months can be a little ho-hum, these five new groceries have us looking forward to 2019. Keep reading to see why.

1. Shredded Unexpected Cheddar

“I love our unexpected cheddar,” says Tara Miller, Trader Joe’s Marketing Director. “Mostly because it’s unexpected. It lives up to its name.” In 2019, the store will launch a shredded version of this cheese, which would be great for nachos, grilled cheese, and more. Oh and if you’re wondering what makes it so unexpected, it’s cheddar with a hint of Parmesan. The result is a salty, nutty cheese that’s sure to surprise your taste buds.

2. A Cave-Aged Cheese That’s Similar to Manchego

Matt Sloan, the VP of Marketing Product, had another cheese to add, though he didn’t tell us the name: “It’s from Spain, from La Mancha. You might know of Manchego, like the archetypal classic Spanish cheese from the same area. This is a caved-aged cheese and, while similar to Manchego, where Manchego is all sheep’s milk, this cheese is a blend of cow, sheep, and goat’s milk.” It’s aged for nine months and should hit stores in April. “I’m looking forward to making a 2019 grilled cheese with that for spring.”

3. Pimento Cheese

Clearly on a cheese kick (we’re not complaining!), Miller called out yet another: pimento cheese. “If you’re from the American South, you definitely know what pimento cheese is but I think a lot of other people don’t,” she says.

Don’t want to wait for the TJ’s version to hit the shelves? We’ve got a must-try recipe to make it at home.

4. Candles

“I can’t believe how popular these scented candles have been,” says Sloan. The duo hinted at a super fun spring scent: “Hopefully for the first part of the new year we’ve got a lemon-cookie scented candle.”

5. Mandarin Orange Chicken Bowl

Already love the Mandarin Orange Chicken at Trader Joe’s? Well, it’s about to come out in a ready-to-heat meal version. “It’s on a bed of rice. It has some vegetables in it,” says Miller. “You put it in the microwave. You bring it to your desk or to the table and you eat your lunch.” Or, as Sloan jokes, you can eat it standing over the kitchen sink staring, wistfully out the window.

Which of these are you the most excited for?
