Perhaps you’ve heard? There’s a cream cheese shortage. It’s due, in part, to a cyberattack on the biggest United States cheese manufacturer, Schreiber Foods, which is based in Wisconsin. At the same time, demand is up: “At-home cream cheese consumption is up 18% compared with 2019, and food service demand in November was up 75% compared to last year,” according to a spokesperson for Kraft Heinz in a recent Bloomberg article.

But I have some good news for: My favorite cream cheese is still plentiful and on shelves. Everyone, please say hello to Tillamook Cream Cheese Spread.

Relatively new to the scene (it came out in early 2020), this unassuming tub is often overlooked, but I’m here to change that. Tillamook’s cream cheese is ultra smooth and creamy, without any of those added fillers or stabilizers that can make other options more gummy in texture. (It’s made with just four ingredients!) It’s not just creamy, though — it’s flavorful, too. This is a cream cheese that’s perfectly tangy and, well, tastes like cream cheese!

I often slather it on a bagel, of course. And I’ve also been know to dip raw veggies into it, stir it into hot pasta to make an instantly luxe sauce, swirl it into brownie batter before baking, and fold it into scrambled eggs. I’ve also just eaten it with a spoon … if I’m being honest.

Fun fact: Tillamook’s Cream Cheese also won a spot in our list of Kitchn Essentials. I personally love the Original flavor, but there are three others you should know about: Seriously Strawberry, Aged Cheddar, and Very Veggie. The strawberry one is made with real strawberries, the veggie one features six different vegetables, and the cheddar one is nice and sharp, featuring the brand’s famous cheese.
