As soon as September hits, I’m in Halloween mode. I don’t care if it’s too early — it’s my favorite time of the year, so I’m going to make it last as long as possible. However, as passionate as I am about spooky season, it’s a bit difficult to make my tiny studio apartment reflect my festive mood. Of course, I don’t have a yard for Halloween decorations — there goes my dream of owning the giant Home Depot skeleton — and I don’t really have the space to spare for holiday decor.

However, as I was scrolling through TikTok, I came across a product that might solve my problems. HomeGoods has a $30 cauldron that has earned hundreds of thousands of likes already. What sets it apart from other Halloween decor, you may ask? Well, this isn’t just a plain old cauldron that you’d use as a candy bowl — though you certainly can. This version is actually stovetop-friendly, so you can use it alongside your normal cookware. This is one piece of festive decor that you can use year-round!

Shoppers are, understandably, running to HomeGoods to find the cauldron. One TikTok user even commented that they’re planning on driving 60 miles to score one for themselves. But another commenter pointed out that they “spent an hour at HomeGoods searching every single aisle and never found one.” It’s a common problem when it comes to HomeGoods — as soon as an item goes viral, it seems to vanish off of shelves.

As someone who only has one HomeGoods location nearby — the perils of living in New York City — I decided to take my search online before going in-person. The retailer closed its digital shop earlier this year, so that was immediately out. My next course of action was to look up the brand of the cauldron, which the TikTok video conveniently included. Unfortunately, the exact model is sold out everywhere, including at Wayfair. That left me to find alternatives, and luckily, I found a near-identical version.

Breeo’s Cast Iron Kettle is a witchy piece of cookware that you can use all season (and beyond). It arrives pre-seasoned with flaxseed oil, and the material will heat up quickly and retain it, making it perfect for heating water or making soups. It has a 6-quart capacity, so you can make a large batch at once. Though it’s certainly pricier, dozens of reviews confirm that it’ll hold up. “We use our kettle over the Breeo firepit and on our stovetop,” a shopper says. “Even works for popping corn.”

Another describes how many dishes they can make with it. “The first thing we made in it was prosciutto scalloped potatoes,” a review reads. “We were able to rotisserie a turkey while the potatoes bubbled in the cauldron! Loved it! We’re using it again tonight to make a green chile bison stew.”

Breeo’s was the closest match to the HomeGoods one in shape and size that I could find — most others have feet that don’t make it ideal for normal stovetops. However, if you don’t want to part with that much cash, I did discover a tiny kettle from Lodge that gives off a similar spooky vibe. It’s nearly out of stock at Amazon, so I wouldn’t wait to snag it if you want a budget-friendly cauldron in your kitchen this Halloween.

You can’t go wrong either way. Regardless of which cauldron you choose, the witchy vibes will be immaculate. You’ll kill two birds with one stone: Give your kitchen a spooky vibe and snag a piece of cookware that you’ll use for all of your fall meals. Sounds like a bargain, if you ask me!
