There’s a good chance that your idea of a perfect breakfast includes pancakes and bacon. Although you can make each of these foods separately, you can (and definitely should) make them together!

Yes, you heard that right — you can dip crispy bacon strips in pancake batter for a delicious two-in-one breakfast. And it is the absolute best way to start the morning.

How to Make Bacon Pancakes

I first came across this ingenious breakfast idea via, you guessed it, TikTok. The account sweeterfoods, which specializes in fun food ideas and simple recipes, shared a video demonstrating the recipe not too long ago. In the video, turkey bacon is cooked until nice and crispy, then dipped into a thick pancake batter before being cooked in a hot greased skillet.

When I made it, I cooked a few strips of bacon on a foil-lined baking sheet in the oven. While the bacon was in the oven, I prepared a pancake mix that only requires the addition of water.

I patted the bacon dry with paper towels then laid each strip of bacon in the pancake batter and used a fork to help coat it in the batter. I then laid each of the coated strips of bacon into a hot buttered skillet over medium-high heat and cooked each side of the bacon for about 2 to 3 minutes.

My Honest Review of Bacon Pancakes

The end product was surprisingly delicious! Each side of the pancake-covered bacon was golden-brown and, when topped with maple syrup, was incredibly flavorful. My only recommendation would be to use a slightly thicker pancake batter if you want a fluffier pancake around the bacon. Also, be sure to use unsalted butter, as the bacon is super salty on its own. Overall, the dish was buttery and rich and a great mix of sweet and salty.
