I love a good bagel — one that’s thick, but not too thick, and chewy, but not too chewy — so I was very excited when I saw this bagel bread.

The prospect of slicing into a warm loaf of sesame-studded bagel bread and slathering it with cream cheese was enough to convince me to pull out my stand mixer. Want the recipe? Right this way.

The fun part about making this bread is you don’t actually have to shape the dough into perfectly round bagels. Instead, you create five “ovals” and drop them into boiling water for about one minute on each side. Once you’ve boiled the ovals, line them up inside a buttered loaf pan and brush some beaten egg on top.

After waiting (impatiently) for the bread to bake and cool, you can then slice and eat as is, or toast it before topping with your favorite spread.
