Ina Garten is the author of 10 cookbooks (and counting) and has served up recipes for 15 years on the Food Network, so it might come as a surprise to you that the queen of cooking has the same thing for breakfast every day. Yes, the same thing! While she might like to change things up for her dinner parties, Ina says she starts her day the same way every morning.

On a recent interview on Vice’s podcast “Munchies,” Ina dives into her simple but satisfying breakfast with the editor-in-chief of Munchies, Helen Hollyman.

“What did you have for breakfast today?” asks Hollyman.

“Same thing I always have for breakfast every day: oatmeal and coffee.”

“And how do you make it?”

“I use McCANN’s quick-cooking oatmeal, not instant, quick-cooking, and I make it in the microwave. And that’s breakfast! And really good coffee.”

Hollyman then asks how Ina takes her coffee. Ina says she takes her coffee with milk, and then Hollyman asks how she makes her coffee in the morning.

“Either drip or I have an espresso. If I’m really dragging in the morning, I’ll make myself a cappuccino.”

For someone who is known for her roast chicken and other simple but delicious entertaining dishes, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Ina’s breakfast routine is equally simple and most likely tasty. Oatmeal isn’t the sexiest of breakfast options, but I bet Ina makes it a little more special with seasonal fruit or maybe a swirl of good jam (only the best for Ina, of course).

The real question is whether Jeffery eats oatmeal every morning as well. I can just imagine them out in the Hamptons sitting at the table with their coffee and their bowls sitting in silence and holding hands (probably) and reading the newspaper.
