The best thing you can do for your salad is to ditch the bottled dressing. I’m not saying that bottled dressing can’t be delicious — and it does have a place in the kitchen — but making your own dressing is just so easy and inexpensive, why would you even bother with the store-bought stuff? All you really need is some oil, vinegar, and salt to make a great salad dressing.

Ready for an upgrade on a simple recipe? Or want to branch out and try something new? I have just the thing. Pinterest recently told me their most popular salad dressing on their platform and you should probably try to make it. The photo itself on Pinterest is pretty ugly, but don’t let that deter you.

The most popular salad dressing recipe on Pinterest is this “famous Japanese restaurant-style salad dressing” from Allrecipes. It has been saved over 242,000 times on the platform. Pinterest has also created a board showcasing other wildly popular salad dressings, including this gorgeous maple-mustard salad dressing and this honey-poppy seed salad dressing.

If you want an easy salad dressing with minimal ingredients, this is not the dressing for you. This salad dressing recipe calls for 13 different ingredients, including onion, peanut oil, fresh ginger, and ketchup. It’s pretty simple to prep when you have everything ready, however. Just combine everything in a blender on high for 30 seconds and you’re done.

The photos of this recipe really don’t do the salad dressing any justice, but the commenters on Allrecipes really seem to like it. According to the website it’s been made over 300 times and has been reviewed close to 270 times. Sometimes ugly food is just more approachable.
