Homemade granola is one of life’s simple pleasures. Sure, you could buy the store-bought stuff, but nothing really compares to a batch you make yourself. Usually making granola requires a bit of forethought and time, though — unless you’re making this stovetop version. With only five ingredients you can have crisp, sweet granola in five minutes.

While I love making a big batch of granola in the oven on a leisurely Sunday afternoon, I don’t always have that luxury. That’s why this skillet granola is perfect for hectic mornings. It’s a fairly basic recipe, but you can adapt and adjust it based on your preferences. Don’t have almonds? Sub in a different nut. Love coconut? Toss in some coconut flakes!

All you have to do is melt honey and coconut oil in a skillet, and then add in quick-cooking oats, brown sugar, and some almonds. Watch the oats and nuts to make sure that they don’t burn — you just want to stir them in the skillet until they’re nice and golden-brown.

Once the granola is ready, you sprinkle on a pinch of salt and spread it out on a baking sheet to cool for a few minutes. Serve it with milk or over yogurt and you’ve got breakfast in a flash.
