These Beachy Kitchen Ideas Will Help You Prolong Summer
With summer sadly coming to a close, we thought it’d be appropriate to share these super-beachy kitchens. While they’re total eye candy and fun to look at, they also might help you keep a summery state of mind year-round.
Steal some of these fun touches — even if you live miles from the ocean — and you just might forget that temperatures are about to drop, drop, drop.
1. Stripes
While it’s true that stripes can be Parisian, they’re usually decently preppy and nautical-feeling. Just look at the message these stools are giving off in this Buenos Aires home. Add thick or thin stripes through your upholstered furniture, carpets, or curtains.

2. Textured Pendant Lights
Seagrass is a must–have for a coastal kitchen, and it’s a great way to add a nice, neutral texture to any space. Hang oversized pendant lights — like the ones in this kitchen featured on Better Homes & Gardens — in woven seagrass to add a natural focal point in your room.

3. Navy and White
Is there a more coastal color combination than navy and white? We’re pretty sure there isn’t. Use the winning duo anywhere and everywhere in your kitchen — we’re especially loving the charming bistro-inspired barstools in this kitchen on One Kings Lane.

4. Natural Wood
Driftwood may be one of the first things that comes to mind when you imagine a coastal space, but really any natural wood will be just beachy. Go for a distressed floor, or top your counters with slices of stained wood, like homeowners Kirsty and Simon did in their Australian home. Plus, check out that porthole-inspired window!

5. Nautical Art
This Florida cottage from Lisa Michael Interiors is filled to the brim with quaint coastal touches. Our favorite design element? The art in the dining nook! You can take “nautical” as literal as you want when it comes to art (thinkL a beach shot or stunning sailboat) or as abstract, like a close-up shot of waves crashing on the rocks. Pick a piece that’s packed with cool tones and choose an oversized option for extra impact.

6. Palm Plants
Flowers are always beautiful, but island greens like monstera leaves or banana leaf palms are an unexpected fresh accent that — bonus! — live way longer. Look how they pop against this mostly white kitchen featured on Queensland Homes.

7. Sea Foam Green Tile
Give a subtle nod to sea glass with a glass backsplash in a pretty blue, teal, or soft gray. Designer Erin Hedrick paired the tile with marble and crisp white cabinets, which will reflect natural light and make for a sunnier cooking space.
