What did it take to be a cupcake bouncer at the height of the Sex and the City craze?

Turns out you have to be big and able to make small talk with tourists.

Jason Diamond spent time after just moving to New York as the gatekeeper of the infamous West Village cupcake bakery. He tells of how people waiting in line and not getting cupcakes, making Lou Reed storm out of the bakery, and the inevitable triumphant cupcake pose that happened nightly.

Let’s hope there’s a tell-all from the Cronut bouncer in the works.
