If you haven’t mixed up a pitcher of iced tea yet this summer, I urge you to do so immediately. Cold and refreshing, iced tea is the perfect thing to sip on a warm summer evening. And I’ve got just the thing to make your next batch the best you’ve ever made. Can you guess what it is?

Flavored ice cubes! Sweetened ice cubes with lemon slices and fresh mint, to be exact.

Simply place some lemon slices and fresh mint in the bottom of each well of an ice cube tray, and then make a simple syrup with sugar and liquid of your choice (the author says you can use water or tea) and pour it on top. Freeze the cubes and pop ’em out the next time you make a batch of iced tea!

Not only do these ice cubes look beautiful, but they also add wonderful flavor as they melt into your tea. You really can’t beat the combination of tart lemon and cooling mint. And if you use tea as your liquid, you can be sure that your iced tea will never taste watered down as you slowly enjoy it on a hot, sunny day.
