I have to confess something: I like watching TV or a movie while I’m cooking dinner. I set up my laptop on my IKEA kitchen island while I’m mincing garlic or peeling sweet potatoes, and I find it entirely soothing. This month I plan on doing a lot of cooking (hello, Thanksgiving prep!), so a few good shows and movies are in order. Here’s all the new stuff coming out this month to sink your teeth into.

Coming to Netflix

  • The Big Family Cooking Showdown: Season 1 (November 3)

Could this be the new Great British Bake Off? It looks just as happy and delightful (and hey, it’s also British). The show is actually hosted by former Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain alongside Zoë Ball. Each week the show will have two teams of three families compete against each other to determine a winner.

  • The Dinner (November 6)

If you’re looking for something a little more dramatic and dark, this is the movie to watch this month. Starring Richard Gere, the movie chronicles an upscale dinner had by two couples and the secrets they keep.
