“The Great British Baking Show” Returns to Netflix for a New Season of Fresh Bakers and Delicious Treats
Fans of The Great British Baking Show will be saying “TGIF!” on Friday, September 16, 2022 as the beloved show premieres its tenth season on Netflix in the United States. A new set of 12 amateur bakers competing for their chance to win big for our viewing pleasure? Yes, please.
Like in past seasons, all the competitors on The Great British Baking Show — or The Great British Bake Off as it’s known in the UK — are busy people who bake as their passion in addition to holding down different jobs. So who can we expect to make their debut this season? Fans of the show will see a nanny, IT manager, music teacher, supermarket cashier, and charity director all competing for their chance to take home the coveted title of the season’s champ.
Also, as it’s done in past seasons, the popular show will drop new episodes of the 10-week competition every Friday on the U.S. version of the streaming giant. That, however, will be three days after it airs in Britain, so U.S. fans will need to steer clear of social media to avoid spoilers for a few days each week.
The Great British Baking Show will see Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood return as judges, while Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding will return as the show’s hosts. As many know, GBBO IS widely credited for reinvigorating a passion for baking in the countries where it airs. The popularity of the show also has led to many shows mimicking its enjoyable format, including The Great British Sewing Bee and the direct American version of the show aptly titled The Great American Baking Show.
GBBO‘s impact has also led to the surge in an audience who has been eager for more cooking competition shows, with viewers embracing everything from Hulu’s pizza-themed baking competition show to a Julia Child cooking competition.
