The Challenge: Can You Design a Better Recipe? GOOD Magazine
The folks over at GOOD magazine feel that the recipe needs a face-lift. The old standby of listed ingredients and step-by-step instructions just isn’t doing enough to inspire people off the couch and into the kitchen. Think you can design a better recipe?
They have a good point. With all the various media tools at our disposal and all the ways we now have to share information with each other, you’d think we could figure out a recipe model that is both fun and effective at helping you cook dinner.
We love that GOOD pointed out the illustrated recipes in the recent Ikea cookbook. These caught our eye as well, and are one of the most engaging ways to illustrate a recipe we’ve seen in a long time. GOOD also includes some comic zine-style illustrated recipes, one of Grant Achatz recipe sketches, and several other visual recipes to use as inspiration.
Like their recent challenge to redesign the food pyramid, GOOD is running a contest now through March 1, seeking your design ideas for the new recipe:

Do you think we need to change the way recipes are written? How would you do it?
