The Bestselling Bottle of Booze of All Time, According to Minibar
This week we’re delving into some of the trends in drinking — ’tis the season for something cold and alcoholic, right? Not that we need an excuse. Beverage delivery service Minibar (it’s like Seamless for your grown-up drinking needs) has given us some insights into what’s buzzy and boozy, including their “bestselling bottle of all time.” Of course, “all time” is relative, since they’ve only been around for three years, but we were intrigued nonetheless.
Ready to find out the number-one bottle?
The #1 Bottle: Tito’s Handmade Vodka
Minibar’s bestselling bottle is Tito’s Handmade Vodka, a relative newcomer to the vodka market that has enjoyed considerable popularity. Part of that is taste — bartenders we spoke to said Tito’s was a solid choice — but it also comes down to story. And Tito’s has a good one.
Named for geologist-turned-distiller Tito Beveridge (yes, that’s actually his name), the vodka started as a crafty side project. Tito would make flavored vodkas for his friends and family for Christmas.
But when he tried to sell the stuff at liquor stores, the flavored stuff didn’t fly. So Tito started researching and tasting and tinkering until he came up with the version you can find on shelves (and online) today.
Made in Austin in an old-fashioned pot still at Texas’ oldest legal distillery, the vodka is 100 percent corn, which also means it’s gluten-free — definitely a selling point in today’s gluten-sensitive world. (Although, it’s worth noting that distillation removes gluten, so all spirits are gluten-free when they come out of the still.)
Finally, at around $20 per 750-milliliter bottle, it’s competitively priced.
