A lot of small appliances are ugly and need to be hidden away in a cabinet. But if you’re among the lucky ones who have a beautiful KitchenAid stand mixer, you know that baby’s meant for display! The color! The shape! Plus, if you keep it out, you’re just that much more likely to start spontaneously baking cupcakes, right?

While the stand mixer looks good, the long electrical cord is not. You don’t want to leave the machine plugged in all the time, and you don’t want the cord piled up at the base of the mixer, either. What to do?

Steal this clever idea, which we found at Dreaming in DIY. All you need is a pack of Command Cord Bundlers.

Simply stick a hook on the back of the stand mixer. Then, when not in use, the cord can be gathered up and strapped into the hook. This way, you can’t even see the cord from the front! The strap can be opened and closed whenever you need to unravel the cord. And like other Command hooks, the cord bundler will come cleanly off your machine, should you decide you no longer want it on there.

Although you wouldn’t want to use this trick on an appliance that heats up (say, a toaster or toaster oven), it would be fine for anything else. Try it on a blender or your juicer, for example. I’m even looking at the little Sonos speaker I have at the corner of my countertop with wires winding around it — this would work great!

Brilliant, right? How do you deal with cords to your small electric appliances?
