The Answers to the Emoji Recipe Quiz
Now that you’ve tried to guess The Kitchn recipes based on the emoji sequences, it’s time to see the answers. Are you confident in your decisions? Or are you totally lost? Let’s see how you did.
If you just thought “ice cream that’s banana flavored,” that doesn’t count. This recipe only uses one ingredient – bananas! Hence the “one” emoji before the other three emojis.
The only part that should have been tricky about this one was the red wine glass and the finger to the white dot. Did you get it? It’s supposed to mean white wine!
You really had to dig deep and read each emoji as its only thing here. There’s a guy running (quick!) the Vietnam flag (Vietnamese!), some photo of meat on a bone (beef!), and a bowl of noodles (pho!).
A glass of red wine followed by a couple berry emojis and a pot of honey sounds like sangria to me.
This one was tricky. I separated the eggplant and the burger emojis to indicate that this was an eggplant burger, and then followed up with the green leaves and cow to indicate the burger was topped with something green (pesto!) and cheese.
This one was a little easier, I hope. If you see an image of rice and then an egg in a pan, I hope you think fried rice! To make it more obvious, I added some vegetable emojis and a lightning bolt to indicate heat, spice, and flavor.
If you answered no-bake strawberry cake, you were right! It was hard to describe “icebox” with emojis, so I let that slide.
This one might have looked complicated, but it was really simple. It’s just pizza topped with corn, goat (cheese), and tomatoes.
Unless you’re familiar with the recipe, I’m going to say this was probably the hardest of the bunch. Pat yourself on the back and do a little jig if you had the right answer. The sandwich bread means sandwich, obviously, and the sandwich is stuffed with sweet potatoes, goat cheese, and greens.
There’s no emoji for Nutella (shock!), so I tried to add chocolate emoji and an emoji that kinda looked like hazelnut (it’s a water chestnut, technically) to indicate Nutella. Then, when you add the hot drink portion and the cocktail glass emoji, you get boozy Nutella hot chocolate.
How well did you do? Are you an emoji expert? Or do you need to brush up on your skills?
