It might be hard to believe, but the month of April has already come to a close. We’ve continued to stay home, cooking and baking away, and now May 1st is upon us. Many of us will continue on in quarantine through the month, still tied closely to our kitchens and probably craving some fresh inspiration for our cooking.

No matter the situation, we must continue to feed ourselves and feed ourselves well. May has always felt like a hopeful month to me, with flowers in full bloom and good things like asparagus and strawberries popping up. Let’s lean into this hopefulness more than ever this year. We hope these 31 recipes will brighten your kitchen this month.

Brunch Favorites for Mother’s Day (or Any Day, Really)

Mother’s Day looks a whole lot different this year, but whether you are doting on a mom in your household or raising a glass to Mom from afar, it’s a good excuse for brunch.

At Least One Rhubarb Recipe (or More)

I wait all year for rhubarb season to hit, and it’s finally here. If you’re able to get ahold of some pretty pink stalks, I implore you to bake a pie or a crumble or a cake. Rhubarb’s tart bite tastes extra bright this year.

Give Up Banana Bread for a New Spring Baking Project

Speaking of baked goods, you’re still churning them out on repeat, right? Give them the spring treatment this month by freshening them up with things like lemon zest and strawberries. They’ll still be cozy, of course, but they’ll taste of the season.

Easy Grilled Dinners

If you’re lucky enough to have a grill, get outside and start using it this month. Grilling simple things like buttermilk-brined chicken and thick cabbage wedges gives you a taste of the summer to come.

Pantry Meals that Actually Feel Great for Spring

The pantry continues to be at the center of our meals right now. Let’s give staples like canned tuna and dried beans a spring spin, though, by sprucing them up with seasonal favorites such as fresh herbs and crunchy vegetables.

What are you most looking forward to cooking this month?
