Happy Wednesday! And also, happy IKEA catalog day! That’s right — IKEA’s 2018 catalog hits stores today. (If you’re not planning a visit to a store any time soon, you can request your copy here and you can also browse it online starting on August 7.)

Got a catalog in your hands? We suggest turning to page 245. If you don’t have one yet, just keep reading this post.

On page 245, you’ll find the STOCKHOLM Bowl, a handmade glass bowl for just $20, which you should buy in multiples. Why so many? Keep one for yourself and then have one or two on hand for hostess gifts whenever you need one in a pinch. (This way, you don’t have to give a generic bottle of wine — nor do you have to run around frantically trying to pull a legit gift together at a drug store.)

More on the 2018 IKEA Catalog

There are many things we like about this bowl. For one, although it looks very Scandinavian, it doesn’t look all that IKEA-ish. It looks like it cost way more than just $20. That means you can fill it up with your favorite salad recipe for a housewarming potluck or just bring it empty — either way, your host will be impressed. The lucky recipient can then get plenty of use out of it as a fruit bowl on the counter, a serving bowl during a dinner party, or even just a decorative vessel on a bookcase in the living room.

If you’re feeling extra generous, there’s also the new STOCKHOLM serving plate for $25 that’s designed to match and reminds us of a raindrop in a puddle.
