Just the other day, I was working on a story about Target's latest home brand, Made By Design, when I read something I'd never heard about the store before. (And that really doesn't happen much because I've been writing about and — shopping at — Target for at least a cool decade.) Turns out, an informal poll revealed that other Kitchn staffers didn't know this either.

Any idea what it could possibly be? Here's a hint: It's a big deal if you're a fan of the store's in-house brands like Threshold and Project 62!

Apparently, you have up to a year (a full year!) to return anything that's a Target-exclusive brand. You just need the receipt and you'll get a full refund. And apparently this sweet deal quietly went into effect in March of 2015! (Before that, you could only return something within 90 days.) The one-year return guarantee also extends to people using Target's baby, college, or wedding Gift Registry.

See Target's full return policy here.

Of course, if you're not in the habit of saving your receipts, this might not be super helpful to you. But maybe this will be the inspiration you need to, at the very least, start a Target file folder (or, heck, even a shoe box). This way, if, say, a patio table cracks and warps unexpectedly, you can return it and get your money back.

Did you know about this great return policy? What else do people maybe not know about Target?
