Lower-calorie ice cream looks like it's going to be a huge trend this year. The runaway success of Halo Top's lower-calorie ice cream has a lot of companies looking to create their own versions of ice cream with fewer calories. Now even Talenti has released its own variety of lower-calorie ice cream with less fat and sugar than regular ice cream.
Talenti says its new Crafted with Less Sugar line is sweetened with monk fruit, and the company says the line has half the sugar and less fat than regular ice cream, and it has just 120 calories per serving.
People really have been looking for products with less added sugar lately, and companies are noticing. Siggi's yogurt was already known for being a lower-sugar option, and last month it released a new version that contained no added sugar at all — just fruit — for people who wanted a yogurt option with even less sugar than Siggi's original line.
Talenti's new Crafted with Less Sugar line is designed to be a lower-calorie option that still has chunks and swirls of ingredients inside, so it still feels indulgent.
"Our new flavors are inspired by our fans, who were looking for a better-for-you gelato option with half the sugar but the same delicious taste and texture they've come to know and love," said Josh Hochschuler, founder of Talenti. "And with each new flavor, craftsmanship is still at the heart of our brand. We create unique recipes that source the finest ingredients from throughout the world."
The new flavors include the following: mint cookie crunch gelato, made with fresh mint leaves and crunchy chocolate cookies; chocolate gelato with fudge swirl; and a vanilla cinnamon gelato, which sounds like it would be utterly amazing with apple pie.
