With Birkenstocks and overalls back in style, and even Crystal Pepsi making a comeback, it’s easy to reminisce about the ’90s. Remember the Tamagotchi? And Beanie Babies? How about listening to Nirvana on your Discman while doodling your crush’s initials in your Lisa Frank notebook?

Yeah, maybe some things should stay in the ’90s. But not Pop Rocks! Sprinkle them on top of donuts for the ultimate throwback treat.

Pop Rocks — for those who haven’t had the pleasure of eating them before — literally pop once they hit your tongue; a sensation akin to little fireworks exploding in your mouth.

These donuts are baked in a donut pan, then covered with a lemon-lime glaze — a riff on another ’90s favorite: Surge Soda. You top the glazed donuts with Pop Rocks, which stand in for sprinkles.

If you have a ’90s-themed party coming up — or if you feel inclined to throw one now — these donuts will impress all your guests. (Bonus points if you show a Twin Peaks marathon while you eat them.)
