Table Setting Tip: Empty Tea Tins as Flower Vases

This morning we wrote about President Obama's favorite tea, which actually comes pre-made in a bottle rather than loose in a tin. But if you do buy tea bags or leaves that come in pretty tins, this is one way to reuse them. It's a favorite image from an old issue of Domino, and since it folded, we wanted to highlight one of the many, many ideas the magazine gave us...

We think the tins in the photo came from Pearl River; that store carries shelves full of tiny, colorful, exotic tins, all of which are inexpensive. But plenty of teas are sold in beautiful tins that are the perfect size for holding a small bunch of flowers. And you can probably find vintage-looking ones at flea markets, too.

Isn't it a cheery image for a dreary winter day? Would be a great idea for a luncheon or baby shower—or just a little arrangement to brighten up a windowsill.
