Sweet Potato Pizza Bites Are the Ultimate “I’m Hangry” Snack
Pizza bites are one of the best possible after-anything snacks. They’re hot, savory, and substantial enough to take the edge off when you’re absolutely starving, but not so heavy that they’ll ruin your dinner. (Unless you want to just eat them all and say it’s your dinner, which I 100% support.)
They’re also very quick to make, so they’re great when you don’t want to put out a ton of effort, or when you’re so hungry you’re going to start yelling at the furniture. If you have a jar of pizza sauce in your pantry and some cheese in your refrigerator, you are pretty much guaranteed to always have something good to eat in about 15 minutes: Just smear some pizza sauce and Mozzarella on the nearest flat, round, edible object in the vicinity and throw it in the oven until the cheese melts. If you’re feeling fancy, you can sprinkle some Italian seasoning over the top.
Pizza bites don’t have to be made on a bread base, either. This cool take from The Toasted Pine Nut uses sweet potatoes, which is great for anybody who is avoiding gluten or just looking for a way to eat another vegetable. The new base adds a sweet flavor that still goes perfectly with the pizza toppings.
You can make a whole tray of them in less than half an hour, and they taste good whether they’re hot and melty or cooled to room temperature. In other words, they’re a great, low-effort thing to serve at a party, whether the “party” is a planned event or a bunch of friends dropping by unexpectedly.
