How To Start Seeds Indoors

You don’t need a greenhouse, expensive equipment, or a green thumb to get a head start on summer’s bounty. Here’s how to do it.

Prep Your Soil

Choose seed-starting soil and make sure it is slightly moist.

Gather Supplies

Have your soil, seeds, hand trowel, containers, and labels at the ready.

Choose Your Container

You can DIY with a newspaper and a straight cylinder.

Fill the Containers

Choose the highest quality soil to ensure healthy plants. Don't cut this corner.

Lightly Pack Soil

Make sure the soil is not too compressed.

Make a Indentation

Make  room in the soil to house the seed.

Sow & Cover

Cover with the suggested amount of soil for that specific seed.

Place On Tray & Water

You can use an old baking sheet or anything with an edge. Lightly water.

Cover & Set Under Light

Cover the seed trays with a layer of plastic wrap or a plastic dome.

Keep Soil Moist 

But not soggy. Now, just wait for seedlings to emerge.
