Whether you’re roasting a whole turkey for the first time, or just need your annual Thanksgiving refresher, this guide will help you cook a perfect turkey.
Remove thawed turkey from refrigerator. Remove neck and giblets.
Preheat oven to 450°F.
If unbrined, season turkey with salt and pepper.
Add stock to the roasting pan.
Put turkey in the oven and reduce temperature to 350°F. Roast turkey for 13 minutes per pound.
Baste the turkey every 45 minutes.
Check temperature of inner thigh, outer thigh, and breast. Turkey is ready when the temperature reaches 165°F.
Cover turkey with foil and rest for at least 30 minutes before carving.
