Now that we've offered a few pointers on how to keep your Dutch oven busy all through the summertime, let me introduce you to the most summery Dutch oven of all — the tomato cocotte.

I love Staub's enameled pots; they are beautiful and extremely useful. And they also display a rustic whimsy in their line of cocottes shaped like vegetables — first a pumpkin, and now this ripe red tomato.

The cocotte holds three quarts, and the color is as juicy red as a ripe tomato — and, for all its cutie-pie looks, it has a very practical handle on the lid.

What do you think? Would you jump at the chance for a tomato cocotte? Or stick to more conventional shapes?
