Starbucks Just Released Two New Holiday Drinks
The world is still coming down from the combined sugar rush of Halloween and Starbucks’ viral Zombie Frappuccino, but the coffee giant is ready to get the holiday season started. Starbucks just released two new holiday drinks — the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha and Chestnut Praline Chai Latte — and they both sound very exciting.
The Toasted White Chocolate Mocha is made with a special new toasted white chocolate syrup, espresso, steamed milk, and whipped cream.
“We took white chocolate and applied a culinary twist by slowly roasting white chocolate to brown the cocoa butter and caramelize the milk and sugar. This deepens the flavor, makes it more complex, and brings out toasted nutty notes that linger as you sip the beverage,” says Starbucks beverage developer Erin Marinan.
The whole thing is then topped with a sprinkle of candied cranberry sugar. The tartness of the cranberries complements the creamy, toasted white chocolate flavor, and adds a bit of sparkly holiday color. The Toasted White Chocolate Mocha is available hot, iced, and as a Frappuccino.
Starbucks often offers seasonal variations on the Caffè Mocha as limited-time offerings, but it’s much less common to see a new version of Starbucks’ classic chai latte pop up on the menu. This year for the holidays they’ve introduced a new Chestnut Praline Chai Latte, which is described as a “holiday twist” on the classic formula, with black tea, spices, milk, and chestnut praline syrup. It’s topped with crunchy spiced praline crumbs.
The new drinks are also included in Starbucks’ current buy-one-get-one holiday drink promotion. Every day between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. from now through November 13, anyone who buys one of Starbucks’ holiday drinks will get another one free. The holiday drinks include the Chestnut Praline Latte, Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, Gingerbread Latte, Eggnog Latte, Holiday Spice Flat White, Teavana Joy brewed tea, and the two new drinks.
