Recipe: Truffled Everything Bagel Popcorn
If you’re looking to jazz up a movie-night snack or if you want something just a touch fancier for happy hour, this flavored popcorn is it. Imagine still-warm popcorn tossed in melted butter and heady truffle oil, finished with all the crunch and flavors you love from an everything bagel. Ready? All you need is a big pot and a lid, and you’re ready to start popping.
Sure, microwave popcorn is convenient and easy, but the big benefit of making it on the stovetop is that you get to add whatever flavorings you choose. Toss ’em directly into the pot, put the lid on, and shake shake shake. Here, butter is the classic addition — of course — but just a tiny drizzle of good-quality truffle oil elevates this popcorn into ooh-la-la territory.

The unexpected final twist is a hearty shake of The Spice Hunter Everything Bagel Crunch. Channeling the hallmark flavors of an everything bagel — that perfect mix of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and toasted onion — this blend adds texture and delicious flavor to the buttery popcorn. However, unlike other everything bagel spice blends that have big chunks of salt, The Spice Hunter’s is salt-free, so that you can control how much sodium you add. The one thing we’re definitely not telling you to do is to sneak a bag of this tasty, toasty popcorn into the movies. Wink.
Truffled Everything Bagel Popcorn
Prep time 5 minutes
Cook time 8 minutes
Makes 12 cups
Serves 6 to 8
Nutritional Info
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons
coconut oil
- 1/2 cup
popcorn kernels
- 2 tablespoons
unsalted butter, melted and still warm
- 1 teaspoon
good-quality truffle oil
- 1 tablespoon
The Spice Hunter Everything Bagel Crunch
- 1/2 teaspoon
finely ground kosher salt or table salt
Instructions
Melt the coconut oil in a large stockpot (at least 9 quarts) with a lid over medium-high heat. Add 3 kernels of popcorn and wait for them to pop. These tester kernels let you know when the oil is hot enough to add the remaining kernels.
When the tester kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn kernels. Swirl the pot to coat the kernels in the oil. Cover, reduce the heat to medium, and shake the pot gently while the kernels pop. After about 3 minutes, when the popping slows to a pop every 1 to 2 seconds, remove from the heat. Continue to shake the pot for another 30 seconds or until the popping stops completely.
Drizzle the butter and truffle oil evenly over the popcorn. Sprinkle with The Spice Hunter Everything Bagel Crunch and salt. Cover again and shake the pot to evenly coat the popcorn. Transfer to a serving bowl, making sure to scrape out any toasted bits of the The Spice Hunter Everything Bagel Crunch that stick to the bottom of the pot. This popcorn is best served immediately.
Recipe Notes
Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 day, but will get stale and soften the longer it sits.
