This Spanish Kitchen Was One Big DIY Project
Does anything about this kitchen look like a DIY project to you? Absolutely not, right? Not a one.
Well, what if I told you that this entire kitchen was a DIY project? Yup! You read that right.
When I came across this Spanish House Tour on our sister website, Apartment Therapy, my jaw dropped. And it dropped even more when I found out that the owner designed the entire home and kitchen himself. But once we got over the initial shock, the realization made a little more sense. Fer, the home’s owner, is the owner of Lebrel Furniture, a gifted craftsman, and a DIY master.
Learning this got my wheels turning. If I could figure out how to be that handy, what would my kitchen look like? Who knows, but here’s what Fer’s (who specializes in minimal furniture and mixing different types of wood and iron) looks like!
Fer is the first to admit that his style is “simple and minimal.” His kitchen is the epitome of that. Thin white countertops cap the wood-paneled drawer situation, which gently add warmth to the room’s natural light. Unique to this kitchen is the glass-paneled storage cabinet that also serves as a pantry.
You bet that Fer made the roomy white kitchen table and chairs with his own two hands. (His workshop and studio are conveniently located in the house.) The staircase leading up to his bedroom loft is a perfect example of Fer’s inspiration, as it consists of both industrial and natural materials.
Fer doesn’t live alone! Here he is on his handcrafted kitchen staircase with his dogs, Deli and Wanda.
We might not all be professional furniture designers, but that doesn’t mean a DIY kitchen is completely out of reach. Here are some of our favorite ideas for easy kitchen projects that anyone can do.
