For anyone who’s ever searched for a recipe on the internet before, (our guess is that’s all of you), Deb Perelman is a kind of fairy godmother. Her beloved food blog Smitten Kitchen, has been around since 2003 and her devoted following is like no other. (Just check out the lively comments section for proof!) People flock to Smitten Kitchen because Deb is someone you can trust. Her recipes are not only delicious-sounding and Instagram-worthy, but they actually work when you put them to the test.

And speaking of Instagram … if you’re not already following Smitten Kitchen, you’re missing out on major insider content. It’s where Deb writes her family’s weekly dinner plan on a whiteboard, shares daily food and family foibles, and cooks through her site’s recipes. More often than not, Deb throws in a tip or two that you’d be remiss not to listen to. The latest tidbit we picked up from Deb’s ‘gram? Her all-time favorite knife.

“A few people asked what knife I use. It’s from Global and I’ve been using it almost exclusively for 15 years,” says Deb, on her Insta Stories. You read that right: FIFTEEN YEARS. She then included a swipe-up link to the exact model: the Global G-2 8-Inch Chef’s Knife.

It’s important to note that Deb made sure to clarify that her story was “not sponsored,” so we know she’s not messing around. For further proof of Deb’s commitment to the Global 8-Inch Chef’s Knife, we dug into the archives and discovered that this is the same knife she used when we visited her East Village apartment to photograph her Week of Dinners feature almost two years ago. Deb means business.

So there you have it: This lightweight, stainless steel, dimpled, safe-grip handled knife is Deb’s trusted sidekick in the kitchen. And she wouldn’t pick just any knife. For what it’s worth, this knife also has 4.7 stars (out of 5) on Amazon and we know lots of other professional chefs who swear by it, too.
