Looking for the simplest, sturdiest style of lunch box? Something with no plastic in sight? I bought these stainless steel lunch boxes for a shoot earlier this year, and ever since then my husband has been using them happily to tote his lunch to work. All stainless steel — no fuss and no muss.

These bento boxes come in several sizes and configurations, from single-tray to ones with multiple compartments. You can also stack them inside a lunch bag.

The only drawback is that they really aren't for sloppy or wet foods, and the lids have an annoying habit of getting a little loose. I solved this by buying a bento strap to really hold the lid down while it rattles around in his bike bag.

But overall it is a great solution for simple lunches, especially if you want to avoid plastic and stick with something truly unbreakable.
