The Target shopping experience is the subject of many an internet ode. It's both parts relaxing and an easy way to spend a lot more money than you ever intended.
If you'd like to enjoy the Target shopping experience without the temptation of impulse purchases, however, this news may be just what you're waiting for: The retailer now has same-day grocery delivery service in select areas, powered by Shipt.
Target acquired Shipt last year in an effort to compete with Amazon and its ever-expanding grocery delivery services. Shipt will continue to offer delivery from other stores, like Costco, but is also expanding to include Target delivery. To sweeten the deal, Shipt is also currently offering 50 percent off a one-year membership.
Shipt Membership, $49 at Target
The offer, which is tied to Mother's Day, is a pretty good deal for anyone interested in trying it out. Regularly $99, the limited-time price of $49 gets you unlimited grocery delivery for just a little more than $4 a month. Deliveries are free on orders over $35, and a $7 fee applies to smaller orders.
The app works much like Instacart: Users pick their groceries (and other select Target items!) in the app and then a shopper finds the items for you and delivers them to your door. This differs from Amazon Fresh, which currently ships from a warehouse, although Amazon does offer Prime Now, a service in some markets where shoppers do the shopping for you.

What do you think? Would you pay for this service if it meant getting groceries from Target the same day you order them?
