Shawn Mendes’ Luxe Los Angeles Home Has a Clay Kitchen Island That’s Breathtakingly Gorgeous
When it comes to real estate, there’s nothing holding Canadian crooner Shawn Mendes back. The 24-year-old, three-time Grammy nominee recently scooped up a freshly rebuilt estate in Los Angeles’ tightly packed Beverly Grove neighborhood for a hefty $4.6 million.
The “Stitches” singer’s nearly 4,000-square-foot new home boasts five bedrooms and six baths, and was originally built in 1974. This year, it gained a complete rebuild by West Hollywood firm House of Shoor, and the two-story home took on a contemporary Parisian villa vibe full of French-influenced architectural flourishes and a mansard roofline. A clean, minimal European aesthetic translates to earthy colors and textures, with cream-colored plaster, intricate stonework, and expansive marble slabs throughout the structure.
The visual centerpiece is in the kitchen — an eye-catching center island with curved edges lined in hand-applied pleated French clay. While preparing a meal, you have calming views of a dramatic, Italian-inspired outdoor oasis through giant sliding glass and steel doors, complete with a zero-edge pool, dozens of mature Italian cypresses, and a “cathedral-style” guest house featuring the same custom sliding doors. The gorgeous formal dining room is decked out with a modern sputnik-style chandelier and a tile floor, and the home’s open-concept floor plan marries the living, dining, and family rooms for a singular cohesive space. Not bad for luxe living, if you ask me!
