When I worked a movie theater job several years back, I would dread every time we had to get the old shabby mop out (which was quite often). After getting all the cleaning solutions together and schlepping the water-filled bucket to the hall, I was exhausted by the time we finally got around to cleaning up whatever soda spill had occurred. On the other hand, at home (where my kitchen was in my entryway), whenever the city grime was tracked in, I just stuck with my old Swiffer to get rid of the mess. But, now that I’m finally out of school, I’m planning on making the upgrade to a more adult floor-cleaning tool that’ll also save me money in the long run. You guessed it: I’m dying to get a steam mop.

After reading about steam mops on Kitchn over the past few years and seeing how much our editors rave about them, I’ve been wanting to purchase one for myself and revolutionize my cleaning routine (without breaking the bank). Way more effective than a traditional mop and without all the caveats that come with Swiffers, steam mops truly are miracle workers, and the affordable Shark S1000 Steam Mop is no exception.

What is the Shark S1000 Steam Mop?

This easy-to-use mop is a gem of a find — it uses steam power, so no solutions are needed, and it takes only 30 seconds until it’s ready to clean. All you need to do is fill up the large removable water tank, reattach it to the mop, plug it in, and it’s good to go for removing any grime or grease — no residue will linger on your floors afterward, either. To get it going after the allotted 30 seconds, press the handle down and the steam will come out through the pad on the bottom of the mop. It’s so slim and lightweight that you won’t have any problems maneuvering it around the house and getting in those hard-to-reach corners.

At only $70, the S1000 Steam Mop is a steal — plus, you can save on however much you spend on cleaning solutions for your floor. If you’ve been using Swiffers rather than run-of-the-mill mops, switching to the Shark will also help you save on the cost of cleaning pads, since these ones are reusable and washable. What QVC Reviewers are Saying

Average Rating: 4.2/5

“It was super easy to assemble and within three minutes from opening the box, I was mopping the floors. It does a nice job and I’m so glad I got this.” — sistersopus

“The best part is your floor is not wet and can be walked on literally right after cleaning the area. So no more of yelling at the kids not to run past, so they won’t slip on the floor. PS! Make sure to purchase extra of the cleaning cloth that covers it. You will want the extras while you are washing the others.” — cravejesslewis

“I have had mine for nine years — NINE years! It’s easy to detach the pads and wash them, as well as fill the reservoir with water. It’s also nice to mop the floors without it feeling overwhelmed.” — maliajaynehome

This cleaning workhorse is selling fast at QVC right now, so whether you’re looking to upgrade from a Swiffer like me, or just finally swap out your old-fashioned mop, now’s the time to do it! Your floors will thank you.
